It was my 9th birthday when I got the letter. The letter read
Dear Brooke, your present is in the mail it is coming from aunt and uncle it will be there soon I miss you. I was confused at first but I soon just decided to just wait. When I finally decided to just wait my parents took me out to Margaritas.
Then they started asking me “what do you think you are getting from your grandma?” “I don’t know,” I said.
That’s when they told
“For your birthday you are getting a leopard gecko!” I was so excited I was nearly jumping off the walls. I could hardly sit still I was so excided! Then I asked how big is it when is it coming is it a boy or a girl? All they answered was I don’t know. Although I knew they knew.
After we ate they asked do you want to go shopping for your lizard and of course I said yes! We decided to go to Petco. Petco had a plethora of supplies for lizards. We looked at every thing. We decided to get one heating pad, one bag of moss, two dishes for food and water, and a log for her to go in. Then we went home and I set her cage up.
The next day my dad came home carrying a small brown padded box with holes in it. “Is that my lizard,” I said jumping out of my chair! He paused for a second then said yes. I was so excited I couldn’t believe my lizard was here. My dad went and sat on my bedroom floor. Then he said, “ go sit on the floor.”
That’s when he opened the box. There in the box was a little leopard gecko. She was yellow, brown, black and green. She was curled up in a little ball in the corner. When she noticed we were watching. She looked up with her small little eyes looking around.
Then my dad scooped her up want to hold her my dad asked “yes,” I whispered quietly trying not to scare her. When my dad handed her to me I could feel her warm little belly resting on my palm. She looked around a little bit I could tell she was still tired. She was frightened at first but soon she started walking around.
We put her backing her cage and my dad asked, “So what are you going to name her.” I said, “I don’t know, maybe Lizzie” I said. “That’s a great name,” he said. So I decided to name her Lizzie. I watched her eat mealworms and then I went to bed.
I will never forget my ninth birthday. The day I got Lizzie. That is the story about when I got Lizzie.
